    Though Camus himself was at best “ambivalent” when it came to the question of the French colonialism in Algeria, and bright thinkers such as Heidegger were outright Nazi, and Alex de Tocqueville who condemned the US savagery as basically beyond any moral norms failed to apply his uplifting moral standards when it came to Algeria and the French, where it was benign.
    The thinker is as much the product of his own culture, as art is the other face of Empire. It is his task to set himself against his own time discerning the infinite traces that shape and form him, as a product of his own culture/society.
